A young girl remained critically ill in hospital last night after she suffered stab wounds and her baby brother died in their home in north Belfast.
The children s mother (29) was being questioned on suspicion of the murder of her son and attempted murder of her young daughter.
The two-month-old boy and his sister, aged two-and-a-half, were found in a house in Brompton Park in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast after 8pm on Tuesday. ....

Baby killed in shocking incident in Ardoyne, Belfast, PSNI confirm

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed on Wednesday that a baby died during Tuesday’s tragic incident in Ardoyne in North Belfast that left another child in intensive care.
“Police can confirm that a baby has died and another young child was injured following an incident at a house in Brompton Park in north Belfast last night, Tuesday 27 July,” PSNI said in a statement on Wednesday.
Detective Chief Inspector Millar from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team said: “Police were called to the house shortly after 8 pm last night [July 27] and discovered the injured baby and another injured child in the house.   ....

Woman held on suspicion of murder over death of baby boy


A 29-year-old woman remains under arrest on suspicion of the murder of a baby boy at a house in north Belfast.
The boy’s young sister is in intensive care after she was injured in the same stabbing incident at Brompton Park in the Ardoyne area on Tuesday evening.
It is understood the children’s father was in England when the attack happened and he has travelled back to Northern Ireland.
A post-mortem examination on the boy is due to take place on Thursday.

It is understood the arrested woman was taken to hospital by police after the incident for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries. She is also being held on suspicion of the attempted murder of the girl. ....
