Over the same period, the credit union s total membership rose by 7,000 to reach 550,000 for the first time.

Inspirational Bolton awards are set to go international

AWARDS which recognise inspirational women across Bolton and the North-west are being extended to the rest of the country and the rest of the world for 2021. In the first week of opening for nominations, the She Inspires Awards have received more than 120 nominations including from as far afield as Australia. The seventh annual awards are being held at Whites Hotel on November 25. They were originally started by Gulnaz Brennan through the Women in Neighbourhoods’ movement to honour women across the borough in every area of life. They have grown each year although last year had to be held virtually because of the pandemic and were staged at the University of Bolton.

Longtime Vancouver editor, art director, and musician Bob Mercer dies

His final days were filled with love and support from his family and friends, Mercer s Facebook page says. At this time, Bob s family is taking time to process his passing. News of a virtual memorial will be announced once arrangements have been made. To respect Bob s wishes, we ask that you not send flowers, the message continues. If you would still like to honour Bob s passing in some way, we suggest that you make a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choosing in his name.

Inspirational women celebrated at Inspire Awards 2020

INSPIRATIONAL women who have made a difference to others were celebrated in a glitzy online ceremony. The sixth annual Inspire Awards had to be staged virtually this year because of the pandemic, but preparations are underway to hold a reception for the winners when it is safe to do so. Staged at the University of Bolton, the awards lost none of the red carpet feel, with some of the country most high profile women attending, including Patron, Baroness Trish Morris of Bolton and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi. Baroness Morris said:“It’s testament to the spirit of the sixth Inspire Awards that we are able to celebrate together, on this virtual platform.
