Still doing damage as she moves inland. So far the mega storm has killed 16 people in seven states. An estimated 5. 7 Million People are without power and it could become one of the most expensive natural disasters in u. S. History, with damages running between 10 and 20 billion. Here in new york last night, amateur video caught a massive explosion at con edison substation. The blast knocked out power to tens of thousands in Lower Manhattan. Randall pinkston has more. Reporter sandy roared ashore south of atlantic city, new jersey, monday evening, packing sustained wind of 80 mile an hour with gusts over 100 miles an hour. Three alarm fire, grass ignited and peoples yards spreading the flames and threatening other homes in the neighborhood. Crews closed several of the roads leading to those homes in the fire was eventually brought under control. Firefighters and battle a series of brush fires this afternoon. Cal fire says three fires broke out and burned 211 acres. The fires were first reported around 5 pm off interstate off interstate 580 and west grant road, 10 miles east of livermore. All lanes of 580 were shut down as cal fire fought back the flames. They said the fires are currently 75 contained. A deadly fire in Central California burned more than 35,000 acres and thursday. Its only 10 contained. The wildfire known as the erskine fire destroyed a 150 homes at 2500 homes remain threatened.
