Paul Valade | Staff Photographer, December 2020   Posted2/18/2021 5:18 AM Acting on the advice of some Lake Zurich leaders, the developer who last year proposed an eight-unit townhouse building along the village s namesake lake has partnered with the neighboring property owner and is expanding the project s scope. The initial proposal for the residential building and a 4,000-square-foot commercial building on one lot now calls for two additional townhouse buildings on the neighboring lot, bringing the total number of residential units to 23. The development would be located just southeast of the busy intersection of Route 12 and Old Rand Road.

Embattled Lake Zurich Trustee Beaudoin won t be on April ballot Lake Zurich Trustee Jim Beaudoin   Updated 12/29/2020 6:15 PM Lake Zurich Trustee Jim Beaudoin, who was arrested this month on allegations he choked his girlfriend during an argument, will not be on the April ballot seeking another term on the village board. Beaudoin did not file candidacy paperwork to get his name on the ballot for the April 6 election, leaving a write-in campaign as his only option to seek a third term in office.   The 47-year-old trustee has pleaded not guilty to two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery stemming from his arrest after a Dec. 12 altercation at his home. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Antioch, Mundelein have four-way mayoral races; Gurnee and Lake Zurich also contested

Updated 12/22/2020 8:26 AM Editor s note: Dawn Abernathy is running with a full slate composed of trustee candidates Willie Davismckennie, Ray Mullen and Angela Trillhaase, and clerk hopeful Heather Mullen-Gaschler. Mayoral candidates Robin Meier and Steve Lentz each are running solo. Also running independently are trustee candidates Sol Cabachuela, Edith Reese, Tim Wilson and Jenny Ross, as are clerk hopefuls Karen Walsh and Lisa Willems. Four-way mayoral races have materialized up in both Mundelein and Antioch for the April 6, 2021, election. Other contested mayoral races are in Gurnee and Lake Zurich.   The filing deadline for Lake County residents hoping to gain or retain elected municipal, school, park, library, township and fire district office passed at 5 p.m. Monday.
