WBBJ TV May 6, 2021 The Generals announced plans to expand entertainment at the Ballpark for this summer and into next year. State Rep. Chris Todd says the additional entertainment options at the Ballpark will help give the community more opportunity for entertainment. “I think a lot of folks are excited about that. We missed last year, and I think folks are ready to get back out and enjoy some good baseball, and wrestling, and concerts, so there’s a lot of things planned for the Ballpark,” Todd said. But the events are just the beginning. After losing their major league affiliation, the Ballpark announced Thursday that they will still have baseball this summer. ....
WBBJ TV March 9, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. The City of Jackson received a presentation by the Crone Law Firm on the relationship between the former city administration and the Jackson Baseball Club, known as the Jackson Generals. According to a news release, the investigation found possible overpayments by the city, lack of proper oversight, and trade agreements between the two organizations. The report shows about $3 million in undocumented expenses between 2012 and 2020, more than $15,000 in overpayments between 2015 and 2019, reimbursements for renovations and marketing, and additional financial concerns. WBBJ TV February 4, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. An investigation into the spending habits of the former City of Jackson leadership has revealed shocking decisions. The state comptroller’s office released a report, centering around former Mayor Jerry Gist’s administration and how they spent taxpayer money. “Failures to provide good oversight, failures to be transparent, failures to do due diligence,” said John Dunn, the Director of Communications for the Comptroller of Treasury. Dunn says the report focuses on two subjects: the city’s financial dealings with the Jackson Generals and the city’s contract with Waste Management of Tennessee. The bulk of the report details just how the Jackson Baseball Club, better known as the Jackson Generals, received more money than most knew. ....
