L-R Swimming Earns Six to Scholar All-American Team L-R Swimming Earns Six to Scholar All-American Team July 12, 2021 The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 789 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2020-21 season and Lenoir-Rhyne placed six on the list. The award recognizes students who achieved a GPA of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections (also called Honorable Mention) must have also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a “B” time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. Local residents are battling rising housing prices as the population in Northwest Arkansas continues to grow.  The total population across the four major NWA cities is expected to increase by 80,000 households by 2040, according to the Walton Family Foundation. Amid population and economic growth, housing prices in NWA have risen. Median rents increased 1-13% in three of the major cities between 2011 and 2016, and the median price of for-sale homes rose 15-43% according to the Walton Family Foundation. Jacob Queen, 29, a Tokyo resident, moved to Japan in March 2020 to escape housing costs in NWA. Queen lived in east Texas, Denver and Seoul, South Korea during his five years in the U.S. Army. His parents moved to NWA in 2018, and after Queen finished serving, he came to Fayetteville to look for a place to settle, he said in an email. NWA housing costs are among the worst Queen has seen, he said. ....

Lisa Boernigen locked down her spot for the NCAA meet with a Team Record in the 200IM ranking her 12th. Lauren Rutherford improve her position to 29th with a team record in the 50free. She too is hoping to be invited to the Championship. Spencer improved his position in the 50 free with a team record. He also set a new team record in the 100 fly. ....
Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Swimming team finished up their most successful Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship in school history. The Bears finished in 4th place throughout the four day event and scored the most points they have ever in the event with 711 points. On the last night, two more team records fall. First Lisa Boernigen broke the school record in the 100 free with a 52.02 time. The time was also good for a NCAA “B” cut time. Then later in the evening, Kiana Schumacher broke the team record with a 2:05.91 time in the 200 back. The Bears also got great performances from Kimberly Scheiber in the 200 Breast with a 2:29.17 time and Sarah Helfert in the 1650 free. Helfert had a time of 18:01.73 in the event. Then to finish the championship, the team of Boernigen, Helfert, Scheiber and Elizabeth Bowman finished 4th in the 400 Free relay with a time of 3:37.70. ....
