As the Bryant community mourns the loss of a teacher, Jamie Sheffield, her five children sat down to share memories about their mother. Sheffield died this week after battling COVID-19. Her children says she is more than just a statistic, and that she left a legacy behind. “Mom was great for everything,” said Justin Heffner, Sheffield’s son. Sheffield’s children said to know her is to love her and she had the same heart for many things, including teaching special education at Bethel Middle School, serving as the school’s cheer coach, but most importantly, she loved her grandchildren. (WBRC) - The Homewood Board of Education approved a few changes for the school calendar in January. âDuring the holiday break, we anticipate we will have families traveling and gathering with others. We felt that it is important to provide a transition period before returning to school in an effort to mitigate the spread of disease in our buildings,â Homewood City Schools released. The school system says the schedule changes are as follows: January 4-6, 2020 - These days will now be teacher/staff work days. This will allow for our teachers and staff to prepare for the additional adjustments being made between semesters to allow for more physical distancing between students. ....
