Mad Pies Restaurant & Bar in Fultondale is hosting an all-day concert today to raise money for people whose lives were affected by a Jan. 25 tornado that tore through the city and left a trail of destruction.
A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least 30 people were injured in the storm. More than 300 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, according to Fultondale Fire Chief Justin McKenzie.
Mad Pies, 1731 Decatur Highway, wants to help the community recover with proceeds from its Southern Sound Benefit Showcase, which starts at 2 p.m. Country, rock and Southern rock musicians are scheduled to perform until midnight at the restaurant, including Driver, Matt Bennett, Len Park and Ben Moseley. ....

It was a rescue scenario like no other, truly a matter of life and death.
An EF-3 tornado with estimated winds of 150 mph blew through Fultondale, decimating entire neighborhoods and toppling a 100-year-old oak tree that landed on the leg of Arnoldo Vasquez-Hernandez as he was shepherding his wife and three children to the basement of their Lykes Boulevard home. ....

Local Church Needs Donations for Fultondale Tornado Victims

The Weeping Mary Baptist Church is stepping up to help those were affected by the devastating tornado that ripped through Fultondale last week. The relief effort is underway by countless organizations from across Alabama however the church is doing its part to help those families who lost housing and practically everything to the tornado.
Last Monday’s tornado left a trail of destruction in the Fultondale community. On Monday, the fire department released an initial assessment of the damage.
“We have 265 residential structures affected,” says Fultondale Fire Chief Justin McKenzie. “Of that 265 we have 65 that were completely destroyed.
Weeping Mary Baptist Church is following the command to love one another and not better way than showing love is by assisting those in need with donations during difficult times. ....
