Univ. of Oklahoma Drop King and Queen, Picks 2 Guys For Homecoming Beginning this year, the process will always be gender neutral moving forward. The University of Oklahoma’s homecoming court has gone gender neutral for 2021. First reported by KOKH, the student body and faculty selected Justin Norris and Reece Henry as their homecoming royalty, ditching the traditional binary-based titles of king and queen. Henry (3rd from left above) is straight, while Norris (2nd from right above) is gay. “I was kind of shell-shocked at first,” Henry said. “It just made me feel very validated in my identity and loved by OU,” Norris added. ....
This year, two men named Justin Norris and Reece Henry won the titles. “I mean, the world is changing and OU continues to change with it,” Norris said. “With this court not being equally split six and six, you know, male and female, it just shows there are so many different types of people who deserve to be recognized.” For many American high schools and colleges, fall homecoming celebrations not only lift school spirit but also bring the community together.
