A foreigner was arrested while three compounds and 70 summonses were issued during a Targeted Operation carried out by police here since June 2. District Police Chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad, in a statement, said the operation is against private individuals providing transport services without permit or commonly known as “kereta sapu” who violate the standard operating procedures during the Movement Control Order (MCO 3.0). The operation focused on three locations, namely Jalan Mawar, Jalan Kastam Lama and Jalan Pantai. He said the 70 summonses were issued against kereta sapu drivers, while three for failure to comply with the SOPs ....
Lawyers for Animal Rights noted the primates are protected under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010. Lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh said there was no justification for the culling of the shy leaf-eating species which are also considered “endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. They said Perhilitan’s claim that it was allowed to cull the primates under section 52 of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 was also not justified. Section 52 of the Act among others states that a Perhilitan officer, acting in good faith, can exercise his powers to hunt any wildlife if it poses a danger to human life or property. ....
SEREMBAN: The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has been forced to cull seven adult lotong (dusky leaf monkeys, also known as dusky langurs) in an operation in Port Dickson as these had caused serious injuries to humans on three occasions this year. Perhilitan said all seven monkeys were aggressive and had to be put down after attempts to trap or relocate them failed. It also debunked reports on social media that its officers 20 dusky leaf monkeys were shot and killed in an operation at Batu 2, Jalan Pantai on May 19. There were no juveniles culled in the operation as mentioned in the viral reports. ....

BATU PAHAT: An early morning collision between a Porsche and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at KM2 along Jalan Kluang-Batu Pahat here has claimed the life of a doctor. In the incident, Dr Noor Zairul Muhamad, 50, a doctor at a private hospital here, was driving his Porsche from Sri Gading heading towards Batu Pahat town. Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police received a call around 9.40am yesterday about the incident. “Initial investigation showed that the victim was driving alone from Sri Gading heading towards town at 9am when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a streetlight. ....
