12:27 PM In a major crackdown by the Jammu & Kashmir administration, a verification drive was started on Saturday to collect biometric and other information from Rohingyas in Jammu. At least 155 Rohingyas have been sent to the holding centre as a part of the verification process. Many of the Rohingyas reached India illegally via Bangladesh after being persecuted in their home country and sought refuge in Jammu and other parts of India. The verification process of these Rohingyas Muslim took place at the MAM Stadium in the midst of tight security. Abdul Hanan, a Myanmar national, told reporters that they filled up the forms and their fingerprints were taken by the authorities. Mukesh Singh, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, said in a press release that the 155 illegal immigrant Rohingyas who were living in the Union Territory of J&K were sent to the holding centre formed vide Home department notification dated 5th March 2021 on Saturday ....

A major terrorist plan to set off an explosion at a crowded place here on the second anniversary of the Pulwama attack was scuttled with the recovery of a powerful IED from a nursing student who was arrested along with three others, a top police officer said on Sunday. Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, Mukesh Singh also said six pistols and 15 small Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were seized from Samba district in a separate operation. JAMMU: Security forces in a joint operation on Sunday claimed to have recovered more arms and ammunition in Poonch’s Balakote sector, based on disclosures made by three Pakistan-linked terrorists of J&K Ghaznavi Force who were recently arrested. The seizure included a pistol, three pistol magazines, 35 bullets and five grenades. “The fresh recovery was made from Dabbi village along the Line of Control. This was the third consecutive recovery of arms and ammunition based on the statements of the arrested trio,” IGP (Jammu Range) Mukesh Singh said. The three were caught near the LoC with six grenades on December 27. “During questioning, they revealed some vital clues about reviving terrorism in the area. On December 30, security forces busted a hideout and recovered two pistols, 70 pistol rounds and two grenades hidden under bushes along the LoC in Dabbi village,” IGP Singh said. ....
