Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By ANI NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing for six weeks on a plea filed by former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjiv Bhatt seeking suspension of his life imprisonment jail sentence in connection with a 1990 custodial death case. Till the petitioner s (Sanjiv Bhatt) review petition against a 2019 order by the SC is decided, we adjourn the matter for six weeks, a three-judge bench of the Top Court, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan and also comprising Justices M R Shah and R Subhash Reddy said.

New Delhi [India], January 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday said that it will hear the petition filed by former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Sanjiv Bhatt, seeking suspension of his life imprisonment jail sentence on January 27.

Rajkot: A sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and a deputy executive magistrate in Jamnagar district received threats on call, from a man named Jigar Maadam on Tuesday. After the government officials complained to cops, Maadam was traced down to Palanpur from where he was arrested on Wednesday. The SDM, N P Savaliya, told cops that Maadam initially called the deputy executive magistrate, G R Dabhi, and hurled abuses at him in connection with a case of a land at Amrapar village at Jamjodhpur taluka. Dabhi handed over the phone to Savaliya as he is handling the case. On the call, Maadam threatened Savaliya to pass an order against the company that has installed a windmill on the disputed land. Police said that the owner of the land had complained to the district administration alleging that the windmill company has encroached upon his land.

Representative image RAJKOT: Hundreds of people in the city have been cheated of nearly Rs 60 crore by office bearers of a credit cooperative society who lured them with handsome returns and good interest rates. Police booked Sanjay Dudhagara, Gopal Raiyani and Vipul Vasoya who were running Rameshwar Sarafi Sahakari Mandali for the past six years. All three are on the run. Dudhagara was its chairman, Raiyani vice-chairman and Vasoya the manager of the institution. “They took deposits of various amounts from people by promising them handsome returns with good interest rates. The investors were offered alluring monthly, quarterly and yearly schemes. They had made 4,200 members from Rajkot city, Padadhari taluka and Kalawad and Jamjodhpur talukas of Jamnagar too,” said police.
