It’s time to get some summer vacation vibes! Doesn’t the island of Jamaica sound nice? There’s a place that’s ready to whisk you away with authentic Jamaican recipes. It’s called The Jamaican Pot and there are two locations right here in the D!
The Jamaican Pot is an authentic Jamaican restaurant owned and operated by two native Jamaican lovebirds, Rosemarie and Bruce. The two opened their first location on 8 Mile and Hubbell using Rosemarie’s home recipes. She featured some fan-favorite dishes including jerk and curry chicken and her oxtail dinners. ....

Detroit Black Restaurant Week has 30 signed on and growing
Greektown Restaurant Week and Warren Restaurant Week are also coming up next week
Black-owned restaurants in Detroit and the suburbs will be given a spotlight during the fourth annual Detroit Black Restaurant Week.
The first of this two-part dining promotion is April 9-18, followed by a second series this summer, Aug. 20-29.
Organized by founder Kwaku Osei-Bonsu   who is also a co-founder of urban, outdoor dining hub EastEats  the event has a growing list of 30 food businesses to join in at no cost to them. This year s Detroit Black Restaurant Week is not limited to dine-in businesses; it also includes local caterers and food trucks.  ....

Michiganders who lost wages, hours or their jobs because of state COVID-19 health and safety orders issued in November can start applying for new grant funding this Friday, according to an announcement from the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association. 
The $45 million in available funds is part of a broader COVID-19 relief bill passed by the Michigan Legislature and signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last year. The measure allows for a one-time grant of up to $1,650 for Michigan residents employed in specific industries who successfully complete an application.  ....
