PINEDALE Sublette County COVID case numbers continue to rise for the third week in a row, according the July 30 briefing from the County Public Health Office. The Wyoming Department of Health reports that there have been 24 new COVID-19 cases in Sublette County in the past week. There are currently 20 active cases in the county, with 829 recoveries and eight deaths for a total of 857 cases since the pandemic began. Individuals are quarantining/isolating in the communities of Big Piney, Boulder, Cora, Daniel, and Pinedale, said Nurse Manager Janna Lee. This week, the Wyoming Department of Health reported the death of an older male from Sublette County with underlying health conditions. This brings the death total in Sublette County to eight. (United Community) MOUNT VERNON, VA Terry McAuliffe, the former Virginia governor who is seeking another term, visited a United Community food distribution site in the Mount Vernon area Tuesday. The visit happened at Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School, one of four mobile sites that serve 400 families every week in addition to 350 families at United Community s food pantry. United Community recently marked one year of providing food distributions in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. McAuliffe and United Community neighborhood ambassadors helped distribute a truck-full of produce, shelf-stable food, diapers and hygiene products to families. Some of the families waited in line for over an hour to receive the much-needed items. ....
Roughly two in five Teton County residents are fully vaccinated. Thatâs almost double the statewide rate, according to Wyoming Department of Health data. Despite the rosy numbers, however, any threshold of community protection isnât worth much if itâs only at the county level. âUntil the whole state and the people that are traveling here are fully vaccinated, you personally might be safer, but that doesnât mean that we can get this pandemic behind us,â county Director of Health Jodie Pond said. Still, the numbers are an encouraging sign that the county is charging forward in its vaccination campaign. The Wyoming Health Department now publishes county-level immunization estimates, and Teton County has a much higher rate than any other in Wyoming at 39.72% as of Tuesday afternoon, though that data may lag by up to 72 hours. ....
