LiveWell Finney County s COVID-19 testing and vaccine event in East Garden Village Thursday was a success. Callie Dyer, executive director of LiveWell Finney County, said the event went really well, plenty of people turned out, got vaccines and got tested. We re very pleased with the turnout and with the comments that we re hearing, she said. LiveWell had 500 shots to give out and 700 saliva COVID tests. The event was free and did not require any identification. Dyer said the reason for the event is LiveWell s mission, health for all in the community. We want to be able to take stuff to the people and this is part of what we do. Not everybody has access, and being able to have access to care is real important to us, she said. One way for them to get access is to take it to them. ....
A COVID-19 testing and vaccine event will be held at East Garden Village on April 8. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is being hosted by LiveWell Finney County in partnership with St. Catherine Hospital, Genesis Family Health, Finney County Health Department and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available to those 16 and over. It s a two-dose vaccine and the second dose will be again offered at East Garden Village on April 29. Additionally, approximately 700 saliva COVID-19 testing kits will be available. The tests can be done on-site or people can take them home, do it at their convenience and drop it in a prepaid FedEx bag. ....
COVID-19 vaccinations continue in Finney County COVID-19 vaccination in Finney County is going well. Colleen Drees, Finney County Health Department director, said the vaccination process has gone great so far. We re projecting a total of 4,800 vaccines administered by the end of the day Feb. 26, with approximately 800 of those being second doses, she said. Vaccinations this week were deferred to later in the week because last week s cold weather caused a shipping delay of the county s vaccine allotment of doses, Drees said. However, people were still able to receive the vaccine. Staff was able to reschedule residents appointments from Monday for later this week, she said. We re grateful for the support our community has and adjusting their plans and appointments due to that delay. ....
