JAMMU/SRINAGAR, July 12: Breaking record of over past 32 years, heavy rain lashed Jammu areas, causing massive floods and extensive damage to the public property while many roads have been closed due to landslides.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an organge alert for J&K while yellow alert for adjoining Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has predicted heavy rain across the Northern region during next two more days.
The Jammu- Srinagar National Highway was blocked due to over-night rain at Samroli near Udhampur and Magarkote-Digdol area in Ramban sector but it was restored after 2-3 hours of closure. The traffic remained moving on snail’s pace on the highway in Ramban sector till late this evening due to single passage at several places after landslides. ....

DC Samba visits Ghagwal sub division, reviews development works around Nar Singh Dev Temple

The Deputy Commissioner Samba was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramkesh Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jatinder Mishra and other revenue staff as well.
During the tour, Deputy Commissioner Samba visited Narsingh Dev Mandir and vicinity. She inspected the development works under taken under various schemes in the sub division including Gaushala, park, development of temple premises. The Deputy Commissioner, while reviewing the development works, said the government has taken up various initiatives to promote and preserve the historical revered Nar Singh Dev Mandir. She said that steps shall be taken to renovate pond adjoining the temple to promote its aesthetic view, while land for developing a spiritual centre shall also be taken up. The DC samba also laid emphasis upon taking tough against any attempts to encroach the temple land. ....
