FESTIVALS: IFF Febiofest Bratislava 2021 Changes Course


BRATISLAVA: The 28th IFF Febiofest Bratislava, which was planned for 24 - 30 March 2021, will not take place in its traditional form.
Industry days, the presentation of Slovak films in the making, will take place as a live online stream within the originally planned dates of 29 and 30 March. This year s edition will have a new Best Febio Pitch award and 3,000 EUR for the best of the presented projects chosen by the international jury. 
The festival organisers plan to screen the programme sections to the audience in cinemas during the year. The COVID-19 curfew, which caused the cinemas to close again, has been in force in Slovakia since 19 December 2020. ....

WARSAW: The Polish Government has announced that cinemas in the Mazowieckie and Lubuskie regions will be closed again on 15 March 2021, along with theatres, hotels and restaurants. The same restrictions were introduced in the Pomeranian region on 13 March 2021.
Due to the increase in the number of coronavirus infections, stricter restrictions are being reintroduced in other regions. The Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced another lockdown in the provinces of Mazowieckie, Lubuskie and Pomorskie on 11 March 2021. The restrictions, including closed cultural institutions, are to apply at least until 28 March. This means that more than a month after opening following the autumn lockdown, cinemas in Warsaw and other cities in these regions will be closed again. ....

FESTIVALS: Pavo Marinković Appointed Director of Pula FF


Nine applications were received for the public call published on 25 January 2021 and closed on 15 February. Minister Nina Obuljen Koržinek appointed Marinković after obtaining the opinion of the Festival Council.
Pavo Marinković was born in Zagreb, where he graduated in dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. His first theatrical plays were published and premiered in the early 1990s. After ten years as a playwright and editor at Croatian Radiotelevision (1996-2005), he began his career as a freelance writer-director.
He directed the feature films
Ministry of Love / Ministarstvo ljubavi (2016, produced by Alka film) and
Love Life of a Gentle Coward / Ljubavni život domobrana (2009, produced by Alka Fim). He also co-directed with Dražen Žarković ....
