Percona Survey Shows Enterprises Increasing Reliance on Open Source Software

Raleigh, NC – May 6, 2021 – Enterprises have a deep appreciation for the value of open source software with 100% of the information technology (IT) decision-makers in a recent survey saying that “using open source provides benefits for their organization.” The survey of 200 IT decision-makers was conducted over the past month by Vanson Bourne and sponsored by Percona , a leader in open source database software and services.
Over the past disruptive 12 months, use of open source software was reported as increasing by 79% of respondents.
The survey comes ahead of the annual Percona Live ONLINE Open Source Database Conference 2021 and was commissioned to understand the business perspective of open source software. Of the 200 respondents, 25% were from medium-size enterprises of 500-999 employees and 75% were from large enterprises with more than 1,000 employees. Data visualisation biz Grafana is switching its licence model from Apache 2.0 to the Affero General Public License (AGPL) v3.
