The first is H.R.1884, the Save Oak Flat Act. The bill permanently protects Oak Flat, a sacred Apache site in Arizona, from being used for a massive copper mine.
The second item of interest is H.R.443, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium Land Transfer Act. The bill authorizes the Indian Health Service to convey property to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in order to expand health care for Native people in Anchorage, Alaska.
Prior versions of the bill have been approved by the committee and the legislation almost made it over the finish line in the last session of Congress. Similar property conveyances have been approved for other tribal health organizations in Alaska. ....
