All Department of Veterans Affairs facilities that administer coronavirus vaccines are accepting walk-ins for all veterans, spouses and caregivers, regardless of whether they otherwise qualify for VA care, the agency announced Monday.
VA encourages those who wish to get their COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment to check the walk-in hours and requirements at their local facility, Acting VA Under Secretary for Health Richard Stone said in a statement.
However, there may be wait times associated with walk-ins. ....

St. Cloud VA Making Changes to COVID Vaccination Program

Jake Judd (KNSI News)
(KNSI) – The Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System in St. Cloud is making a significant change in how it manages its vaccine program.
For the last four months, the St. Cloud VA has operated a centralized vaccination clinic but Starting today (Monday, May 3rd), the VA has moved to an outpatient model.
VA Communication Officer Barry Venable explained to KNSI’s Bob Hughes what the change means.
“The centralized clinic will be greatly reduced. We do still have some second doses that we will be giving in the auditorium. But for the most part, veterans will now be getting their vaccines in conjunction with other appointments, and all they need to do to request the vaccine if they have an appointment scheduled and say hey, I want a COVID-19 vaccine.” ....

The VA has vaccinated millions of people. Congress is asking it to inoculate many more.

Apr 26, 2021 When it comes to getting its patients vaccinated, the Department of Veterans Affairs health care system has in many ways been out ahead of its counterparts responsible for inoculating the general population.
In several regions, the VA already has opened vaccinations to all its enrollees, regardless of age or health status.
But now Congress has given it a bigger vaccination challenge.
A new law called the Save Lives Act says the VA can now vaccinate all veterans and their spouses and caregivers - not just those enrolled in its health care system.
That s a huge jump, even for a system as large as the VA. ....
