Royal Highland income slashed by £4m due to coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a £4m drop in income for the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), according to its latest accounts.
A “no show” year and the mass cancellation of events scheduled to take place at the Royal Highland Centre were the main contributors to the 44% drop in income for the year ending 30 November 2020, compared to the previous year (£9.01m).
Spending was down 46% to £5.28m in 2020, compared to £9.75m in 2019.
Fundraising campaigns secured more than £500,000 in the year, and the RHASS thanked the farming community for its support. ....

RHASS annual results lay bare the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the charity
The charity behind the Royal Highland Show have reported significant losses of income compared to 2019 due to the impact of Covid-19 on its operations.
The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has reported its results for the year ended 30 November 2020.
The society has reported a 44 percent drop in income from £9 million to £5 million compared to the previous year.
A ‘no show’ year and the mass cancellation of events scheduled to take place at the Royal Highland Centre were the main contributors. ....

Drastic measures to stem the  losses incurred by the cancellation of the flagship Royal Highland Show appear to have stabilised the finances of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS).
The full impact of the pandemic on the fortunes of the RHASS  is laid bare in the society’s annual accounts which show a £4 million drop in income in the year to November 2020 to £5m (2019: £9.01m) and a net operating deficit of £247,000 (2019: £713,000). ....
