A cardboard factory caught fire in Orangi Town on Thursday, causing damage to the building. According to a fire brigade department spokesperson, after the blaze broke out at the factory in Orangi Town No. 10, fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the property.
The spokesperson said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, while no loss of life was reported as workers had been timely evacuated from the factory. Emergency was declared by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to avoid any water shortage. The firefighters had been busy in extinguishing the fire till the filing of this news story on Thursday night. ....

BARA: The Afridi Relief Committee has demanded the government to expedite the ongoing survey of the houses damaged during militancy in Bara tehsil of the Khyber district.
The demand was made at a programme arranged in the Bara Press Club. It was attended by the Afridi Relief Committee Chairman Maroof Khan Afridi and other members of the committee and local elders.
They said the government should speed up work on the survey of the damaged homes as the people were facing a host of problems.
They decided to hold a meeting with the relevant officers of Khyber district and a survey team to take up the issue with them. ....

LAHORE: National Transmission and Desptach Company Lt (NTDC) has started rehabilitation work of damaged towers of high power transmission lines caused due to heavy windstorm in southern part of the country.
The recent windstorm and torrential rain damaged five towers of 500 kV Transmission Line and Jamshoro-Port Qasim and two towers of 500 kV Jamshoro-Dadu Transmission line. Managing Director Engr Muhammad Ayub reached the site immediately and started supervising the repair work of damaged towers. He directed to complete the rehabilitation work within four days. It is pertinent to mention that alternative source providing full load and no load management is being carried out in any part of country. ....
