In doing so, they kept Matt Zuccarello and Red Hot Herbie out in the fresh air. After Zuccarello found a hole along the pylons Pound Sterling was all alone on the lead and took the field by the halfway point in :59.1. ....

On the warm and sunny afternoon of April 3, Joe Faraldo and Always A Good Time rallied and then held off a hard-charging Masster Blue to win the $9,000 American Harness Drivers Club Trot at Freehold Raceway. Lightly regarded and sent away at odds of over 21-1, Always A Good Time paid $44.60 for win. “Despite the odds I thought we had a good chance to win even though we were the second longest shot in the race,” Faraldo said. “It s a good thing my horse couldn t read the tote board.” After the starter released the field one of the favourites Southwind Frost (Bob Hechkoff) went off-stride as did Da Boogie Man (Tony Ciufettteli) but the betting favourite, post seven starter Ooh Rah (John Calbrese) trotted to the front and led the field by the first stanza in :28.3. Once on top Calabrese kept the pedal to the metal and they showed the way by the half in :58.3. ....
The outside post was no deterrent for Bettor Memories at Freehold Raceway on Saturday (March 13), as he cruised to an easy win in the Preferred Handicap pace. Despite the outside post, Bettor Memories went off as the 3/2 favourite in his Freehold debut. Driver George Brennan sent him directly to the lead, and crossed over to the pylons without much trouble before the opening quarter. Bettor Memories got the opening quarter in a sharp :27.4, then slowed it down for a :57.1 half mile. At the three-quarter point, Brennan began to open up his drive, and got through three-quarters in 1:25.3. No one was able to seriously challenge the leader in the stretch, and Bettor Memories cruised under the wire a length in front, stopping the clock in a sharp 1:53.3. ....
