11:31 AM MYT KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The flood situation in two east coast states in the peninsula continues to show improvement this morning when victims evacuated to temporary relief centres (PPS) fell to 2,312 compared to almost 5,000 on Monday (Dec 21) evening. In Terengganu, the total number of victims was 1,218 from 321 families as at 8am on Tuesday (Dec 22) compared 4,139 people from 991 families the day before. State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief Lt Kol (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said currently only 18 evacuation centres were still open, 11 in Dungun and seven in Kemaman. In Kemaman, the flood is receding with the number of victims falling to 766 from 197 families compared to 3,625 people from 846 families yesterday evening. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 The number of flood evacuees in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, including Terengganu and Kelantan, continue to rise as of 5pm today with water levels of several rivers surpassing the danger level. In Terengganu, the number of evacuees rose to 7,403 individuals from 1,786 families as of 4pm compared to 6,305 evacuees from 1,663 families at 8am today. Terengganu Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said currently 47 temporary flood evacuation centres in four districts are active, 28 in Kemaman, Dungun (15), Hulu Terengganu (three) and Setiu (one). ....

In Terengganu, 4,139 people from 991 families remained at relief centres, down from 7,780 people (1,822 families) reported at 8 am.
