This year, it will be even sweeter for one Upstate family thanks to them saying “yes” to a question and a call they never expected.
Andrea Forringer remembers her husband, Todd, coming home from a work trip in 2015 and suggesting they should consider becoming foster parents. Andrea admits she was initially apprehensive about the thought of fostering children.
GREENVILLE, N.C. Chris Foster has been named running backs coach at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head football coach Mike Houston on Monday.
His appointment to the Pirates staff extends a 17-year collegiate coaching career, which includes a recent five-season assignment in a similar role at Georgia Southern where he helped lead the Eagles to three consecutive bowl appearances and played a key role for an offensive unit that collectively, from 2018 to 2020, ranked second nationally at the FBS level in total rushing yards with 10,225.
In addition to directing GS s running backs, Foster served as the program s recruiting coordinator and was elevated to associate head coach status in 2019.
The Chesnee community is mourning the passing of a teen, who died from injuries received two days after a car crash.
Toby Brooks Cantrell, 16, was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Dec. 21 when his car overturned on McSwain Road near Secondary 186, about 5 miles north of Chesnee. There were no other passengers. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
Cantrell died at Spartanburg Medical Center at 4:37 p.m. on Dec. 23, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner s Office. An autopsy is pending.
Cantrell, of Parris Bridge Road, was a junior at Chesnee High School. He was a member of the school s baseball and football teams, an honor student in the National Beta Club, and attended classes at the Swofford Career Center.
