At least seven Spanish regions are this week beginning to vaccinate people 80 years of age and over against Covid-19, while other parts of the country are still inoculating previous target groups. Andalusia, Aragón, Murcia, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia and the Valencia region have announced that they are ready to start vaccinating Spainâs most senior population, even as they continue to administer doses to people in the first priority group. This latter category includes residents and workers of care homes, healthcare workers and people in need of daily assistance who do not live in care facilities. Galicia and Castilla-La Mancha said they will start targeting the 80-and-over population next week. Other regional governments have not yet announced a date, but are expected to begin inoculating this age group in late February or early March. ....
Snr cop sucked into ‘fake’ doctor scandal Gibson Mhaka, Sunday News Reporter A TOP female cop in Bulawayo has been sucked into the case of a clinical officer at Mpilo Central Hospital who was arrested for allegedly masquerading as a medical doctor, treating and seeing patients at a private medical clinic in the city. Waison Mpala (67) who is on bail and awaiting trial for practising without a valid practising certificate claimed he was arrested by police officers acting at the behest of their boss only identified as Assistant Commissioner Ndlovu who also doubles up as a medical doctor. Asst Comm Ndlovu was also doing private work at the same clinic situated at the city centre with Mpala. ....
A CLINICAL officer at Mpilo Central Hospital has been arrested for allegedly masquerading as a doctor to patients at his private practice in the city centre. Police arrested Watson Mpala (67) at Mpilo on Thursday after Health Professions Authority (HPA) officials reported him to the police. Part of the HPA’s mandate is to serve the public interest on health matters. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the professional body was tipped by some nurses about Mpala’s claims to patients that the was a medical doctor. “The HPA inspectors went to Mpilo Central Hospital after receiving a complaint from the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe that this man was masquerading as a medical doctor. After checking they confirmed that the suspect was not a doctor. Doctors attend to patients, examine and recommend them for operations and other things. This is what HPA officials are alleging.
