Plans for Courtyard Food Pantry in North Glasgow praised by Bob Doris MSP


PLANS for a new community pantry in North Glasgow have been praised.
The Courtyard Food Pantry at Courtyard Cafe, Westercommon, will see members pay £2.50 and receive food to the value of £10 to £15 each visit.
Flourish House and Queens Cross Housing Association were awarded £21,000 from Glasgow City Council s Town Centre Action Programme Fund to open the pantry beside the Westercommon flats.
Bob Doris, MSP for Maryhill and Springburn, lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament praising the work already carried out as well as the new plans.
It paid tribute to the work of all involved at the Courtyard Cafe, which offers a cafe space for the community and jobs at Flourish House, and thanked everyone who has supported the cafe s kitchen, which has been used to provide emergency food support since March 2020. ....

PROJECTS which will help parts of Glasgow adapt to Covid-19 restrictions and city food pantries have been awarded more than £680,000.
Glasgow councillors have approved handing out cash from the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund to 20 groups.
Two schemes at Albert Drive, which was hit by fires in November 2019 and April last year, have been funded, boosting regeneration plans in the area.
Pollokshields Community Council has been granted £9,460 for a mural as part of the revival at Albert Cross and Southside Housing Association will get £20,000 for close entrance improvements on Albert Drive. ....
