Bring It Home: Artist Stacey Weaver on working at home with a new baby

It was pretty horrible at the start. Just new mum stuff, like juggling all the hormones and the emotional part that comes with it, and the sleep deprivation, and also, suddenly, not being able to do the things that you could just so easily do by yourself previously. That was a really difficult adjustment.
But I think I’m settled in now.
Oddly, I started using my work as a sort of escape. With all of this change going on in my life, [my art business] Just South West was the same.
If I was in [my home studio], thinking about ideas, taking photos or whatever, even though the time in which I could do those things had changed, the actual process and the work itself was unchanged. ....

Social media sowed the seeds for a revival in indoor plants.
Hannah Guzy has always adored plants. With more than 50 dotting her home, and hundreds more at the Christchurch shop, Flourish Foliage, she s growing a green empire, with deep roots.
She talked to us about her five favourite plants and the ones she’s still longing to propagate:
HANNAH: I’ve got so many pots in my house, more pots than plants often.

I do bring my work home with me. I can’t imagine what home would be like without my plants now. It would be very bare. I don’t know how many I have at the moment, I haven’t counted them, but probably around 50. ....
