RAPID CITY, S.D. Known as the first ladies of professional rodeo, rodeo queens from around the country are in Rapid City for the popular Black Hills Stock Show.
Much like other pageants, girls start competing at a young age in hopes of one day being Miss Rodeo America.
Contestants are judged on personality, appearance, and largely horsemanship. For those who win the coveted titles of Princess, Queen, and Miss Rodeo, they become the face of rodeo in their home region.
With most rodeo events canceled this year, contestants are excited to be at the Black Hills Stock Show.
