Paul Page’s poorly father wrote to the judge at Bradford Crown Court appealing for his son to keep his liberty because he was his carer and he relied very heavily on him. Page, 24, of Braithwaite Avenue, Keighley, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault by beat-ing and possession of the knife and sword in the street close to his home on February 13 last year. ....
Lusher A man has been jailed for 19 months for attacking five police officers during the coronavirus pandemic by head-butting, kicking, biting and spitting at them. Judge Jonathan Rose warned that people who attack emergency workers will go to prison when he locked Jack Lusher up today. “It is not all right to hit a police officer because it’s ‘part of the job’,” the judge stated. He cited a report from the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, John Robins, that disclosed that every week in the county there are an average of 37 assaults on police officers and civilian staff. Lusher, 24, turned to excessive drinking after first being furloughed from his job as a chef because of the pandemic and then being made redundant, Bradford Crown Court heard. ....
A police officer using a taser A MAN was tasered by police after he threatened residents at a hotel for the homeless and vulnerable following a week-long vodka and crack cocaine bender, Bradford Crown Court heard today. Andrew McGhie racially abused a group of people in the lounge at The Park Hotel in Oak Avenue, Manningham, before going into the function room with a kitchen knife and telling a member of staff “F off or I’ll stab you.” McGhie, 42, who was staying at the hotel at the time, then answered the door of his room to the police with a knife in each hand. ....
