Southwest Research Institute Develops New Process for Treating Heavy Crude Oils SwRI’s EZ Flow treatment process is intended to cut down on cost and energy intensity of heavy-crude pipeline transportation. July 19, 2021 In the photo, additive is being blended into heavy crude oil in this step of the SwRI-developed EZ Flow. The process treats heavy crude oils by using hydrodynamic cavitation mixing of heavy crude oil with a low-concentration chemical formulation to make a product that can be transported through existing pipeline. SOURCE: Southwest Research Institute. Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) scientists and engineers have developed what they describe as a new, economic method for processing heavy crude oil using a proprietary chemical treatment and mechanical technique. SwRI used internal research funding to develop its EZ Flow process, which makes pipeline transportation of the commodity more cost-effective and less energy-intensive ....
Houston’s music community is as large as the city itself, but for those paying attention there are musicians and bands that in a pre-pandemic time, would continuously pop up on lineups around town. One of those groups, Vodi, will perform on Friday, April 30 at White Oak Music Hall, as they open for Matthew Logan Vasquez in a socially distanced and seated indoor show. “Basically everybody has fronted a band at some point,” says lead singer Tom Lynch. Lynch is joined by his wife Haley who is also known for her songwriting and harmonizing skills in Dollie Barnes and Ancient Cat Society. ....
State regulators are taking public comment on a plan to build a large solar energy farm 40 miles north of Milwaukee in the Town of Holland in Sheboygan ....
Image None of the land that was going to be used for the proposed White Tail solar project in Augusta Township will be used for that purpose, even if it does eventually pass. Whether it will pass in York Township will depend partly on what the public tells the Planning Commission at the next public comment meeting, on August 12. Ranger Power asked the Augusta Township Planning Commission to withdraw its application for its solar location as submitted, and move it to a new series of lots, south of the original proposed location. Since White Tail is pausing the solar application, we are confirming that the solar application will not be heard at the public hearing currently scheduled for March 17, and that the solar application will not be the subject of further public hearings and Planning Commission meetings unless and if the White Tail makes a request to you, the press release to Planning Commission Chair Robert Yurk, released through the firm Dickinson Wright PLLC ....
Image Ranger Power has requested a special meeting of the York Township Planning Commission, on February 22. The now-Chicago-based solar energy firm is attempting to build a utility scale solar power plant on a parcel near York and Augusta Townships, for DTE Energy. Ranger hit some snags in their application at the last meeting, due to what appeared to be communication issues between York Township and Ranger. Ranger Power’s VP of Permitting, Sergio Trevino, told the Sun Times News after the February meeting of the Planning Commission that he would work quickly to rectify any issues with their application. “We’ve already reached out to them this evening to make sure that we clarify exactly what it is that they’re looking for so there is no more miscommunication. Our main priority is to make sure that we’re working in conjunction with them,” Trevino told the Sun Times News at the time. ....
