Brunswick s Teagan Wright has just released a new episode in his Maine Stories series. He delivers it hilariously in his now locally famous Sternman character.
In the Maine Stories collection, Teagan tells us all kinds of wicked cool stuff that we probably didn t know about. While some of it is factual, there s always plenty of exaggeration and ridiculousness to keep it entertaining.
And after all since our great state had a Bicentennial in 2020 with very little celebration because of friggin Covid, funny videos like these are a great way to help commemorate Maine s 200th Birthday.

I remember a few years back on New Year s Eve, we got a text from a neighbor asking if they could borrow a couple blue diesel containers. That request this time of year in Maine could only mean one thing. Their friggin heating oil tank must of been bone dry. The poor guy had tried every store around to see if he could find some. Unfortunately, every place he checked was closed early for the holiday. We happily obliged and lent em out.
You see, we were very sympathetic as we ve been through it at our house too.

Maybe you where there to witness glorious, sweaty shows with these guys at The Loft in Portland years ago. Or maybe you saw them open for ZZ Top in 1977 cementing their place in Maine concert history as the first band to ever play at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
They are the legendary Maine and New Hampshire rock outfit, The Blend (originally White Mountain National Blend). The Blend was led by singer and guitarist James JD Drown. The powerhouse band included Steven Dore on guitar, Ken Holt on bass, Donnie DP Pomber on guitar/piano and Skip Smith on drums.

Kristin Bingham, co-owner of Dean’s Sweets in Portland, loves to hear Christmas music at work and plays it “intensively” for a month.

Loving Christmas music is not officially a job requirement for people who work at Dean’s Sweets in Portland, but it might as well be.
“Starting Dec. 1, we play all Christmas music, and we play it intensively,” said Kristin Bingham, co-owner of the Portland chocolatier. By intensively, Bingham means all day long and everything from Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” to actor William Shatner’s “Shatner Claus” album. She said her co-workers “kind of have to like Christmas music if they want to survive the season.”
