Three Village Trustee Seats Up in April Please vote! Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Three Village Trustee seats and five Library Trustee positions are up for grabs in the April 6, 2021 election. Elections in Park Forest are non-partisan. In the next few months, eNews Park Forest will explore what non-partisan elections mean for Village residents. At this point, readers should be aware that a non-partisan system of elections eliminates a primary system in town allowing more people to run for office for very little money. “The NPC (Non-Partisan Committee) serves Park Forest by hosting public forums and elicits Candidate Statements to make it more convenient for any qualified Park Forest resident to run for public office,” Elissa Seeman, Secretary of the Park Forest Non-Partisan Committee tells ENEWSPF. “We provide opportunities for candidates to meet the public.” ....
The Road We’ve Traveled: Kopy’s Kolumn March 2, 2021 “Well, I’m back,” he said. If you understand that reference to the end of an epic piece of literature, I’m especially happy to have you reading today. Whether you catch the reference or not, I’m back, and please permit me to tell you where I’ve been. The road included practically learning to teach all over again and what became depression. Let’s start by saying it’s been one heck of a pandemic. For all of us. No exceptions. We will live with COVID-19, SARS-cov-2, this coronavirus among us for the rest of our lives. It’s not going away. It will mutate, continue to mutate, and, like the flu, might be less severe or more severe year-to-year. We will always require vaccinations. With decades of science preceding the production of these COVID-19 vaccinations, experts were able to produce the first-ever coronavirus vaccinations in record time, the first-of-their-kind mRNA vaccinations. And ....

Now Tracking Monee & Beecher: Regional COVID-19 Numbers Increase December 18, 2020 Illinois novel coronavirus. (ENEWSPF) Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- With one vaccine approved and one on the cusp of approval, eNews Park Forest begins tracking the COVID-19 statistics for Monee and Beecher. At a reader’s request, we are expanding our coverage to 32 towns up from the 30 we have tracked for months. At last, there is a modicum of good news to share with this report: the number of projected deceased in Illinois has dropped, due largely to the beginning of the rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine. Illinois is projected to see 24,575 deaths by April 1, 2021, nearly a year since Cook County began tracking these virus-related deaths. This marks the first time the projection of deaths for Illinois has dropped, at 27,497 when we last tracked. This projection shows easing scenarios due to vaccine distribution. The United States as a whole still will lose over half-a-million people ....
