By Will Stribling Apr 9, 2021 3:24 PM Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson has drawn criticism and national attention this week for comments made on WLOX-TV that the automatic voter registration provision of the federal For The People Act would lead to âwokeâ and âuninformedâ college students voting. âThink about all these woke college university students now who would automatically be registered to vote, whether they wanted to or not,â Watson said during an appearance on News This Week on the Coast television station. âAgain, if they didnât know to opt out, they would be automatically registered to vote. And then they receive this mail-in ballot that they didnât even know was coming because they didnât know they registered to vote. You have an uninformed citizen who may not be prepared and ready to vote, automatically itâs forced on them. Hey, go and make a choice and our countryâs going ....
1 April 2021 The newspaper industry is buzzing about a brave new direction in traditional print media, thanks to the work of social media expert Emaleigh Nugent. The self proclaimed “influencer”, who has made a name for herself through her podcast “Emaleigh’s Insights” was invited to a panel of newspaper publishers with the North American Media Association, to explore new ways to attract a more media-savvy demographic. According to Nugent, traditional media faces an uphill battle with readers who prefer social media as a news source. That demographic finds traditional news, “kinda retro, but not the good kind of retro.” she said. “I see a newspaper, and I think, like, it just sits there. It’s just…letters. All in rows. I don’t get it.” ....
