Sussex fraud alert after phone calls to Polegate pensioner

The fraudsters pretending to be the police tried to con the 80-year-old man from Polegate.
They wanted him to withdraw £6,500 from a bank in Hailsham.
But the move flagged up an alert under banking protocols which help protect the vulnerable from fraud.
The victim told staff he had been told to get the cash during a series of phone calls.
Police have issued an alert and say the fraud on December 2 is being investigated.
The force said it wants the public to be wary of unwanted phone calls from people asking for personal details or finance information.
Detective Constable Daniel Payton said: “We’re asking people to be wary of unexpected phone calls asking for sensitive information. ....
