Securities Commission Malaysia And Halal Development Corporation Co-Host Inaugural Forum On Shariah-Compliant Fundraising For MSMEs

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) today jointly hosted the inaugural SC-HDC Forum 2021, themed ‘Enabling Growth through the Islamic Capital Market’.

The two-day forum aims to raise awareness on Shariah-compliant market-based fundraising for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those in the Halal economy. Such market-based fundraising opportunities via equity crowdfunding (ECF) and peer-to-peer financing (P2P financing) platform operators, provide MSMEs with an alternative and viable option for Shariah-compliant financing.
“We are anticipating greater interest and participation from MSMEs in the Islamic capital market, given the robust framework and facilitative ecosystem for Shariah-compliant fundraising activities,” said Datuk Syed Zaid Albar, Chairman of the SC. “This is part of the SC’s continuous efforts to spur the development of the Islamic ....

Second legal action launched by Bembridge Harbour Trust

Bembridge Harbour Trust (BHT) says it has exhausted all routes but has had no option other than to launch a second legal challenge in its bid to protect and enhance the harbour.
BHT is a charity dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Bembridge Harbour, which has long been in conflict with harbour owners Malcolm and Fiona Thorpe.
Its chairman is well-known local resident Jeremy Gully and IW Council members Cllr Phil Jordan and Cllr Jonathan Bacon are among the trustees.
They have already launched a Judicial Review against the Isle of Wight Council as Planning Authority, in May, over its decision to grant permission for 13 houses and replacement harbour facilities. ....

The decision to grant permission for 13 houses and replacement harbour facilities at Bembridge Harbour looks likely to be challenged in the courts.
Bembridge Harbour Trust (BHT) is seeking a judicial review of the Isle of Wight Council s decision to allow the development of the harbourside, claiming it will damage the environment and the profitability of the harbour company.
The trustees also believe issues of dredging and moorings maintenance have not been addressed by the harbour authority and will lead to the harbour becoming non-viable within ten years.

Bembridge Harbour Trust (BHT) yesterday (Wednesday) served notice of the intention to judicial review on the Isle of Wight council following granting of planning permission for a 13-house development and replacement harbour facilities on operational harbour land.

Bembridge Harbour Trust (BHT), a charity dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Bembridge Harbour, has today served notice of the intention to judicial review on the Isle of Wight council concerning the issue of a planning permission to Bembridge Investments Limited, for a development of 13 houses and replacement harbour facilities on operational harbour land.
No benefit as claimed
BHT contend that the proposed development, granted permission under Enabling Development planning provisions (i.e. where a public benefit can only be achieved by overriding normal planning policy) in fact delivers no such benefit to its claimed beneficiary, the Statutory Harbour Authority (SHA), whilst creating avoidable environmental harm and additional cost for it. ....
