On 20.07.2021, Ms. Diana Browne, Administrative Assistant at the Country (SVG) Office of the Organisation of American States , handed over a KwikMark Marking Machine for Small and Light firearms to Commissioner of Police, Mr. Colin John.
The donation was done on behalf of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States.
During the handover ceremony, Ms. Browne explained that the firearms marking machine was made available under a special OAS programme called ‘Comprehensive Action against Small Arms and Light Weapons’ which is part of the project ‘Countering the Illicit Proliferation and Trafficking of Small Arms, Light Weapons and Ammunition, and their impact in Latin America and the Caribbean.’ ....

The Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket attacks during the May 2021 hostilities, in which the two terror groups proudly boasted of firing over 4,300 rockets and other missiles against Israel’s towns and other civilian centers, generated an outpouring of international consternation and condemnation.
Israel’s defensive “Iron Dome” anti-missile defense system succeeded in intercepting over 90% of the incoming missiles. Had those rockets reached their civilian targets in towns throughout Israel, one can only imagine the number of fatalities, casualties, human suffering, and material damage that the willful, deliberate, and indiscriminate firing of over 4,000 rockets could have caused. ....

OAS General Secretariat Welcomes Approval of New Electoral Law of Honduras

Each year the OAS Secretary General publishes a proposed Program-Budget for the coming calendar year. The OAS General Assembly meets in a Special Session to approve the Program-Budget. Find these documents from 1998-2013 here.
Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken calls the Salvadoran president to express his concern over the dismissal of the Constitutional Chamber as well as of the attorney general.
The removal of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador and the dismissal of the country’s attorney general, both approved by the Legislative Assembly last Saturday, have alarm bells ringing about the concentration of government powers. The man behind the decision is El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, who now has full control of the parliament after elections for the legislative assembly two months ago. In its first session, the Chamber went from threats to action, removing nine judges as well as Attorney General, Rául Ernesto Melara. As a result, Bukele received a public rebuke from Joe Biden’s administration, which urged him to respect the separation of powers. ....
