Black neighborhoods discussed at meeting By Voleer Thomas About 50 people gathered for a meeting to keep residents informed about what they demand for their neighborhoods and the changes that have been made where they live. Hosted by Porters Quarters Community Connection, the meeting on Sunday at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 804 SW Fifth St., featured residents from historic Black neighborhoods sharing their concerns about the fate of their neighborhoods. Pastor Ronald Foxx of Shady Grove opened the meeting with a prayer and a brief history of Porters. This has been a community church all of my life, Foxx said.
