The road outside the Erode Railway Junction is damaged due to various works.   The stretch from Kalaimadu Silai to Chennimalai Road is one of the busiest stretches due to the presence of railway junction. Motorists and road users have requested early completion of the Underground Sewerage Scheme (UGSS) on Erode – Chennimalai Road, outside the Erode Railway Junction. The stretch from Kalaimadu Silai to Chennimalai Road – EVN Road Junction, also called as E.M. Muthukumarasamy Road is one of the busiest stretches due to the presence of railway junction. The civic body had begun the underground drainage work 40 days ago and is yet to complete. The road was dug in the middle and is yet to be closed causing hardship to the road users. Vehicles have to move in the available space as dust from the road also affects the motorists. Updated: Share Article AAA A meeting of stakeholders related to fixing minimum wages for workers involved in home textiles making will be held at the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Enforcement) at 11 a.m. on January 29. A release from the Labour Department said the State government had constituted a committee to fix the minimum wages for workers employed in home textiles as per the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. The committee, headed by N. Govindan, Joint Commissioner of Labour, Dindigul, would provide advice to the government while a consultative committee, headed by V. Ramraj, Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Enforcement), Dindigul and P. Mayilsamy, Assistant Director, Department of Statistics, would meet the representatives and workers.

Construction workers asked to collect free dhotis, saris today Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Construction workers in the district who have registered with the welfare board till December 31, 2020, and pensioners in the sector have been asked to collect free dhotis and saris for the Pongal festival at the five centres in the district on Saturday. A release from Collector C. Kathiravan said since workers in the construction sector were affected due to COVID-19 pandemic, the State government announced distribution of free dhotis and saris to them and also the Pongal gift hampers to pensioners in the sector. The release said hampers were distributed to the pensioners while distribution of free dhotis and saris had begun in the district on January 21 and would end on January 23.
