UNC to Gonzales: Come clean on WASA

UNC to Gonzales: Come clean on WASA Opposition Senator Wade Mark. - Photo by Sureash Cholai Opposition Senator Wade Mark has called on Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales to come clean on what he described as a plot to destabilise the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), after the resignation of CEO Dr Lennox Sealy. Sealy resigned with immediate effect on Thursday as executive director and chairman of the WASA board. In a media release, Gonzales said Sealy was made aware that Government “felt that the transformation (of WASA) was not proceeding at a sufficiently rapid pace.” Responding to a question in Parliament on Friday afternoon Gonzales, reading from a copy of Sealy s resignation letter, said the decision was due to personal circumstances.

Mark: PNM Parliament behaviour an assault on democracy

Mark: PNM Parliament behaviour an assault on democracy Wade Mark - Opposition Senator Wade Mark took issue with two incidents in the Parliament earlier this week and accused the government of assaulting democracy through their conduct. In the first incident Mark stood by his protests on the adjournment of Wednesday s Senate sitting to Monday. The sitting was expected to deal with the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Miscellaneous Provisions (Special Reserve Police and Police Complaints Authority) Bill, 2020, but Leader of Government Business Clarence Rambharat noted that the Attorney General who was expected to pilot the bills was in the Lower House for a debate which took place at the same time.
