Coalition in S-South tasks Bauchi Governor ‘Bala’ to contest 2023 presidency On By Davies Iheamnachor Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Transparency and Good Governance in the South-South Geopolitical zone has called on the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, to run for the 2023 presidency. The body which made the call in Port Harcourt yesterday said Bala has all the qualities to lead the country and turn around her fortunes. Speaking in Port Harcourt, Rivers State at the weekend, the coalition’s South-South Cordinator, Chief Henry Nabena, recalling that in 2010 Bala put party politics aside for the country’s interest and moved the “Doctrine of Necessity” Motion on the floor of the Senate which gave way for the then Vice-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to emerge acting President. ....
Share Worried by the dilapidation of the tomb of Nigeria’s first and only Prime Minister, late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa which has been neglected to decay over the years, the present administration in the state has expressed its plans to rehabilitate the entire complex in order to make a befitting edifice. The expression was made public on Friday, by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Dr Asma’u Ahmed Giade during the annual memorial lecture and prayers for the repose of the soul of late national leader organised by the state government held at the tomb. The Commissioner said that the complex was neglected for decades by past administrations revealing that the present administration had set a plan in motion to renovate the place so that it could attract more tourists from within and outside the country. ....
Share A mother and her two children have been burnt to death while four other people got various degrees of injuries as a result of a fire that occurred in Riban Garmu village, Dewu Ward in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. An eyewitness account revealed that they suspected the fire was as a result of electricity problem because there was a spark in the night when people were sleeping and the fire burnt the four-bedroom house completely leaving four people with injuries and were admitted at Kirfi General Hospital receiving treatment. He said the fire started when the deceased and her two children were sleeping in the night and all efforts to force the door of their room opened failed though they were crying and screaming for help which did not come till the fire consumed them. ....
