PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) On Friday at the World Forestry Center, Gov. Kate Brown ceremonially signed Senate Bill 762, comprehensive legislation passed with bipartisan support that will provide more than $220 million to help Oregon modernize and improve wildfire preparedness through three key strategies: creating fire-adapted communities, developing safe and effective responses, and increasing the resiliency of Oregon’s landscapes.
The bill is the product of years of hard work by the Governor’s Wildfire Council, the Legislature and state agencies, Brown s office said in a news release. ....

What started out as a small fire near the Riverside Campground suddenly turned into a large blaze along the Clackamas River of Sept. 8, 2020. Fifteen campgrounds, five trailheads, and nearly 33 miles of trail were damaged or destroyed during the fire. according to USDA. The fire mostly impacted the Mt. Hood National Forest.
