The next step in a process that may result in a permanent reservation system for Rocky Mountain National Park will be taken starting this week, when a 60-day public comment period begins.
A pair of informational webinars on the plan to manage the impacts of explosive visitation growth will be held on May 20 and May 25, and are open to the public. Park officials will explain why they believe visitation must be controlled and what ideas they have for accomplishing it. The public comment period will run from May 21 through July 19. Comments can be made online or by mail. ....

A year of remote learning has spurred an eruption of cheating among students, from grade school to college. With many students isolated at home over the past year and with a mass of online services at their disposal academic dishonesty has never been so easy.
Websites that allow students to submit questions for expert answers have gained millions of new users over the past year. A newer breed of site allows students to put up their own classwork for auction.
“Consider hiring me to do your assignment,” reads a bid from one auction site. “I work fast, pay close attention to the instructions, and deliver a plagiarism-free paper.” ....

WASHINGTON (AFP) US President Joe Biden on Thursday branded US gun violence an “epidemic” and an “international embarrassment” at a White House ceremony to unveil his first attempt at getting the problem under control.
“This is an epidemic, for God’s sake, and it has to stop,” he said, calling shootings “a public health crisis.”
“It’s an international embarrassment,” the Democrat, flanked by Attorney General Merrick Garland and Vice President Kamala Harris, told Congress members and gun control activists in the Rose Garden. ....

Nearly three-fourths of U.S. states have some form of voter identification requirement that would be abolished, if Democrats’ “For the People Act” (H.R. 1) bill becomes law, a new study by the Honest Elections Project (HEP) warns.
