An event to benefit an organization that helps to find missing people who have dementia or any other cognitive disorder is scheduled for this weekend in Catawba County. Project Lifesaver is a non-profit nationwide program that was established in Chesapeake Virginia in 1999.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office adopted the Project Lifesaver program a little over ten years ago when a former captain of school resource officers, Alton Price, decided it would benefit the community. The program utilizes waterproof devices that track the missing person. The individual only gets 150 yards away before the caregiver is alerted. Locally, there are an average of ten to 15 calls per year. ....

U.S. Army aoldier Corey considers himself a servant, devoted to his family, his country, and other soldiers as an Army Chaplain.
Corey says, “I began to see the tremendous need that was right in front of me, the toll that prolonged years of war was taken on families and I wanted to pursue the chaplaincy so that I could specifically serve and pastor those families that were carrying so much of the load for our country.”
In addition to being a stay-at-home mom with their three children, Jillian enjoys working alongside Corey as the chaplain’s wife.
Jillian explains, “I think I just saw it as a mission field that we were both going to serve on together. I think we both believe it s where God has us right now. And so, I’m just happy to do it as long as God has us doing it.” ....

ROCKLAND The strength of my mother wasn’t something you could always see on the outside. However, the effects of her unwavering loyalty, dedication, perseverance, and humor are deeply ingrained in each of her children; shaping who we are and keeping her alive within us.
Virginia Hudgins Barnard Sawyer, 91, of Rockland passed away on April 9, 2021 in Rockport.
She was born in Rockland, Maine on July 25, 1929 to Margaret Mayo Gay Barnard and Clarence Edward Barnard. She was the baby of a beautiful blended family which included siblings Edward Barnard, Walter Gay (wife Winona), Alice Gay Spear (husband Philip Spear), Eleanor Barnard Glover (husband Kent Glover), Richard Barnard (wife Mabel), Leigh Barnard (wife Ida). Her siblings were simultaneously protectors, pranksters, and confidants. ....
