This World Health Day should celebrate the

Over 200 community groups, hapū and kura around the
country have signed up to the Environmental Protection
Authority’s (EPA) nationwide environmental DNA (eDNA)
programme - Wai Tūwhera o te Taiao - Open Waters
Aotearoa.
The EPA’s Chief Scientist, Prof Mike
Bunce, says to manage the high level of interest, groups are
being coordinated by region with the help of regional
councils, NZ Landcare Trust advisors and other national
coordinators of water care groups.

Renewable LPG Achieves Emissions Budgets With No Need To Ban New LPG Connections

Renewable LPG can supply New Zealand’s LPG needs and
achieve the emissions reductions proposed by the Climate
Commission without the need to ban new connections, a new
study shows.
The investigation, by leading consultancy
Worley, was prepared for the LPG Association’s submission
on the Climate Change Commission’s Draft Advice. It is
released publicly today for the first time.
The LPG
industry believes the Climate Commission got its
recommendation for emissions reductions

However, while the Commission proposed a ban on
new connections to LPG, the industry says replacement with

Former NZ Cyclist Launches Sustainable Activewear Export Label

A new sustainable activewear line made from recycled
plastic bottles has been launched by a former New Zealand
representative cyclist and Air NZ aeronautical
designer.
The Zovari label is the second export
fashion line created by Geoff Gates in the past three
months, with Cinnamon Swan swimwear which launched in
November already being exported around the world.
The
locally designed activewear range is designed to bridge the
gap between high performance and fashion - while remaining
environmentally focused as well.

Timor-Leste: UN Agencies Support Response In Wake Of Deadly Floods

United Nations agencies in Timor-Leste are
supporting response efforts, as floods and landslides left
widespread damage across the country, including in the
capital, Dili.
According to media reports, at
least 21 people died in the country and many more are
missing. Large parts of Dili are inundated, with water
levels as high as two meters reported in some
neighbourhoods.
Severe damage has also been reported
to critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges and
medical centres. Communication networks and electricity are
said to be disrupted in some of the worst affected
areas.
