Sudbury records big drop in COVID cases on Monday

For the first time in a long while, the numbers are moving in the right direction.
Public Health Sudbury and Districts reported just five new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, as well as 53 new resolutions. The active case count has also dropped by 48 to 243.

In contrast, Sudbury reported 38 cases on Sunday, 49 on Saturday, 28 on Friday, and 55 on Thursday.
It was not all good news, however, as Health Sciences North was reporting 10 patients who have been admitted with COVID-19, the highest number in quite some time. Of those 10, two people are in the intensive care unit. Thirteen people including two in the ICU are awaiting test results. ....

Public Health Sudbury and Districts is reporting two new COVID-19 outbreaks and 28 new cases of the virus, most in Greater Sudbury.
Public Health declared Friday afternoon outbreaks at St. Gabriel Villa in Chelmsford and one hallway of the sixth floor at Health Sciences North.

“Public Health is actively working with the long-term care home and the hospital to investigate each outbreak and ensure patients, residents and staff are protected. Currently, the outbreaks are contained and there is no evidence of ongoing transmission,” the health unit said. ....
