NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Like so many, the Cochran family lost nearly everything to last year s tornadoes- but thanks to a gift from a stranger, now the family of artists can create music from the wreckage.
âWe brought them downstairs and about 90 seconds later the upstairs was completely destroyed. Our sonâs bed was in shambles where he was sleeping just a minute and a half before that,â said Melanie Cochran, recounting the night of last year s tornadoes. âIt was in a different room,â added her husband John.
Tornado victims benefit from donations to Community Foundation
So far, the tornado relief fund by the Community Foundation has raised close to 13 million dollars. More than half of that has gone directly to nonprofits and other groups to help those in need.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Within hours after the tornado hit Middle Tennessee one year ago, NewsChannel 5 partnered with the Community Foundation to set up a disaster relief fund and you responded.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â It s been one year since the East Nashville bar, Attaboy, was hit by a deadly tornado. I think with everyone, the relationship with time has been strange. It s felt like a long year and a short year at the same time, Attaboy managing partner Brandon Bramhall said.
When the tornado hit, Attaboy, received some damage to its building, as well as damage from water and mold.
