Statewide tornado drill happening today, Davidson County not included
Metroâs Office of Emergency Management won t be activating Davidson Countyâs sirens as part of the drill this morning because they will be doing their normal monthly test Saturday at noon. This way the sirens wonât go off two days in a row.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Like so many, the Cochran family lost nearly everything to last year s tornadoes- but thanks to a gift from a stranger, now the family of artists can create music from the wreckage.
âWe brought them downstairs and about 90 seconds later the upstairs was completely destroyed. Our sonâs bed was in shambles where he was sleeping just a minute and a half before that,â said Melanie Cochran, recounting the night of last year s tornadoes. âIt was in a different room,â added her husband John.

The Davis family was sleeping when the storm hit, but their grandma was watching the news. They credit NewsChannel 5 anchors and meteorologists for saving their lives. When they heard the tornado was hitting the news station, they took cover. And get us to safety because we wouldnât have made it. My bedroom, all of that was gone. I would have died. My car keys were up at that church, Briana Davis said.

Boston Commons has been around for years. But the restaurant on Woodland Street was closed for most of 2020 after it was hit by the tornado.
