GOING GREEN: More than  450 additional New Orleans homeowners and businesses took the opportunity to lower their energy costs through rooftop solar and energy efficiency. SOLAR SAVINGS: Customers enjoyed more than $2.4 million in annual savings, an  average savings of $532 per customer, due to rooftop solar and energy efficiency. JOB CREATION: Louisiana now has more than 3,300 solar jobs, with nearly  1300 solar jobs in the Metro New Orleans area alone! Since 2015, the solar industry nationwide has grown over 200%. The Solar for All NOLA 2021 initiative is being led by Forward Together New Orleans, a local nonprofit dedicated to making New Orleans a fairer, more inclusive place by forging partnerships between community organizations and the business and philanthropic sectors. McLean County Explores Solar Energy For 2 Downtown Buildings

/ McLean County government is exploring solar energy as a way to save on its energy bill, but will likely seek financial help before the program sees the light of day. Normal Township recently had around 800 solar panels installed on the roof of the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC). That got McLean County Board member Laurie Wollrab thinking maybe the county should look into solar energy. “It has the potential to save the county quite a bit of money from my understanding and possibly the most important thing overall is the environmental piece of it,” Wollrab said. Wollrab is vice chair of the county board s property committee. The county reached out to Ky Ajayi, a project developer with Straight Up Solar, a company that builds solar installations. Ajayi has been helping local governments and non-profits install solar panels through a program called Illinois Solar For All. It provides better access to clean energy in low-income communities. The statewide initiative, the Solar For All Program, is a partnership between Connecticut Green Bank and PosiGen to bring solar energy to low-income communities, according to the program website. A virtual seminar to educate Norwalkers on the program will take place over Zoom on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to introduce the program and answer questions, according to a city statement.
