State charter panel endorses latest remote-learning plans

The state’s Charter Authorizing Panel on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to remote-learning plans proposed by seven operators of open-enrollment and conversion charter schools.
This latest group of newly endorsed online learning plans will now go to the Arkansas Board of Education for final approval to operate in the coming 2021-22 school year and for up to two years beyond that.
Approved Tuesday were:
• The recently renamed Founders Classical Academy High in Bentonville and Founders Classical Academy-West Little Rock. Both campuses serve grades seven through 12. The schools were previously Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy and Quest Academy of West Little Rock. ....

MH boys among area teams in state quarterfinals Friday

There is high school basketball scheduled for Friday, as most state tournaments begin their quarterfinal round, Mountain Home’s boys will be among the area teams in action. The Bombers return to Hot Springs Junior Academy to face Jonesboro in the Class 5A State Tournament.
Mountain Home is 11-13 on the season after beating Hot Springs Lakeside by 11 on Wednesday. Jonesboro beat Jacksonville in double overtime on Monday to improve to 21-6. The two teams previously met on Jan. 2, when the Golden Hurricane defeated a depleted Bomber team by a score of 63-28.
Tip-off at Trojan Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. ....
